CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Barnes & Noble location in Cheyenne will be bouncing around a couple of new addresses soon.

In its place inside the building on 1851 Dell Range Blvd., however, will come a mammoth redesign courtesy of a grocery store’s move of its own.

Natural Grocers will soon be taking over the lease at the popular bookstore and café spot, leaving Barnes & Noble’s last day at the location slated for May 15. The natural and organic-based grocery store chain will move from their current Cheyenne location on 5116 Frontier Mall Drive and aim to be open by August. It is also applying for the current open retail liquor license for the new location in hopes of selling package liquor on the expanded property.

However, fear not, Cheyenne bookworms: Barnes & Noble is not gone for good.

The bookstore chain will move operations to a currently unknown spot inside Frontier Mall later this spring, manager Gage Nix told Cap City News on Wednesday, before it looks to set up shop in a new standalone location sometime early next year. To celebrate the move, the store is holding a moving sale beginning Thursday and running until its final day on Dell Range.

“We don’t know what the full location is going to be; we don’t even know what our temp location in the mall is going to be,” Nix said. “We all have some theories about where it might be in the mall, but nothing is confirmed yet.”

The Dell Range location isn’t dissimilar to many other Barnes & Noble locations across the country, featuring a vast library of hundreds of books and various office supplies plus a Starbucks café within. Currently, it’s unknown what amenities will be in the Frontier Mall site.

The location had a letter to customers posted at multiple sites throughout the store as of Wednesday. The letter read as follows:

Dear B&N Customers,

We have some news to share. We will be closing this Barnes & Noble location on Sunday, May 15, 2022, and relocating to a new location not too far away. Unfortunately, the landlord has made the decision to redevelop the space and has opted not to renew our lease. We have truly loved serving you from this location and being a part of the community for the past 27 years.

For the time being, while we actively searching for a new permanent home, we will be relocating this store in Spring 2022 to the Frontier Mall, 1400 Dell Range Boulevard — less than a mile away. This store will also be run by our wonderful Cheyenne booksellers.

We would be grateful for any suggestions for potential new locations we might have missed — please email us at MyBarnesandNoble@bn.com, adding “Cheyenne” in the subject line.

We thank all our fantastic Cheyenne booksellers for their hard work and dedication and, most of all, we thank you, our customers, for your support and loyalty over the many years of our store’s life. We look forward to welcoming you at our Frontier Mall location in late spring 2022.

Barnes & Noble proudly serves America with over 600 bookstores in every U.S. state, and we are pleased to be opening new stores in communities across the country.
