CASPER, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management’s Newcastle Field Office, which includes 287,900 acres of surface land and 1.7 million acres of federal mineral estate in northeastern Wyoming, has a new field manager.
Chad Krause comes on as the new field manager for the Newcastle Field Office after serving for seven years as the assistant field manager for Lands and Minerals at the Cody Field Office, BLM Wyoming said in a press release Tuesday.
“The High Plains District is thrilled to have Chad and his family join our team,” Kevin Christensen, BLM High Plains District manager, said. “It’s a challenging position that he is well-prepared to assume, and I am confident he will do a great job of managing the public lands administered by the field office.”
Krause has over 20 years of federal service experience and has “extensive experience working with stakeholders on topics ranging from grazing and water issues in Montana to mineral development and land tenure projects in Wyoming,” the release said.
“My wife, daughters, and I are excited to become part of the Newcastle community,” Krause said in the press release. “I look forward to serving the public in carrying out the BLM’s multiple use mission.”
Krause grew up in central Montana. He earned a geological engineering degree from Montana Tech, according to BLM Wyoming.
“He began his federal career with the U.S. Forest Service, fighting fires to pay his way through college,” the release noted. “For more than a decade he worked as a hydrologist and riparian specialist for the BLM Central Montana District. During his time with BLM Wyoming, he served in various permanent and temporary roles as field manager and assistant field manager.”
