CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Colorado resident suspected of homicide was found dead Tuesday after evading Albany County and Laramie County law enforcement.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a person from Weld County, Colorado, suspected of homicide had entered the county after fleeing Laramie County officers and was potentially armed and dangerous. At that point, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Laramie Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Laramie County Fire-EMS and Laramie County Sheriff’s Office were deployed to the Happy Jack area near FS Road 701.

Early information suggested that the suspect was hiding in a rock formation off Happy Jack Road, and they were eventually found in the area via drone footage. However, the suspect was declared dead at the scene after apparently taking their own life.

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release that more information will be shared as it becomes known.
