CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Children’s Chorale’s 41st annual Holiday Concert will feature some classic favorites in anticipation of winter holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah.

The free performance is scheduled for 6-7:15 pm Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Highland Park Community Church.

“Bel Canto, our primer choir of 50 second through fifth graders, will begin the concert with festive songs of the season,” Director Marcia Patton says.  “The Children’s Chorale, 80 singers in fourth through eigth grade, will present ‘Tecum Principio’ by Vivaldi and ‘Ad Astra’ which means ‘to the stars.'”

Those two songs are ones the chorale are preparing for their performance as a March “Northwest American Choral Directors Association Convention” in Spokane, Washington.

“Chorale will also sing holiday favorites ‘Little Drummer Boy,’ ‘First Noel,’  and ‘Silent Night,’ in addition to music honoring Hanukkah,” Patton adds.

While there is no admission charge, people can make donations to help the chorale cover their spring travel expenses.

“You will leave this concert full of the Holiday Spirit, and with plenty of time left in your Tuesday evening,” Patton says. “Come out and support the Casper Children’s Chorale, Casper’s Ambassadors of Song.”

Bel Canto is directed by Terry Schreckengost.
