CASPER, Wyo— University of Wyoming (UW) professors Jean Garrison and Stephanie Anderson are among the panelists discussing “U.S.-Trans-Atlantic Relations in the COVID-19 Era” via Zoom during the Centennial Summer Speaker Series August 12. The series is sponsored by the University of Wyoming’s Center for Global Studies and the Centennial Branch Library, according to a UW.

The other panelists are Professors Thomas Risse and Tanja Börzel, both from the Freie Universität Berlin. Anderson will moderate.

Growing tensions within the NATO alliance, and between the U.S. and European Union (EU), have been ongoing since the election of Donald Trump as U.S. president. In the discussion, the panelists will discuss the importance of the trans-Atlantic relationship from both regional and global contexts, and address ongoing challenges in the COVID-19 era. Stephanie Anderson is the head of UW’S School of Politics, Public Affairs and International Studies. Her research focuses on the nexus between European Union identity and security policy.

Jean Garrison is the interim director for UW’s Center for Global Studies and the director of the Office of Engagement and Outreach. In fall 2015, she was a fellow at the Kolleg-Forschergruppe-Transformative Power of Europe at the Freie Universität Berlin; is the past recipient of a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellowship; and has worked in the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs in the U.S. State Department.
