CASPER, Wyo. — Put on your walking shoes to enjoy the early fall colors during a Wyoming Walks educational stroll in Washington Park on Monday.

Arborist Bryan Anderson will lead the walk Oct. 2 while talking about the trees and shrubs grown in the city park. The free walking tour is sponsored by University of Wyoming Extension Services. To join the group, meet behind the Washington Park bandshell at 5:45 p.m.

Joddee Jacobsen, UW community vitality and health educator, encouraged people to bring a camera. With leaves changing to beautiful fall colors, it’s a great opportunity to take photos, she said.

According to Jacobsen, during the walk, Natrona County 4-H members will be at Washington Park to play Frisbee golf, and people who like to play that game are welcome to join the local youth.

Wyoming Walks, a new UW Extension program designed for learning, health and wellness, was first offered in Natrona County in July. Jacobsen said she and her colleague Hailey Moss were the first in the state to offer the walks, which provide people a chance to explore area outdoor spaces, make new friends and exercise as they learn from experts in various fields.

Previous walks in Natrona County were at The Bloomery, historic downtown Casper and Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park.

Jacobsen said updates about late fall and winter 2023 and 2024 Wyoming Walks are coming soon. For more information, contact her at (307) 235-9400 or jjacob18@uwyo.edu.
