CASPER, Wyo. — Daylight saving time is out and standard time is back in fashion. Or at least it will be, when 2 a.m. Sunday becomes 1 a.m.

Not every state recognizes daylight saving time. However, for those that do, clocks traditionally get turned back an hour on the first Sunday of November each year. In the spring, when people return to daylight saving time, clocks jump forward an hour on the second Sunday in March. Because of the quirks of the cycle, there is always one 23-hour day in spring and one 25-hour day in fall.

Area emergency agencies remind residents that daylight saving time is also a good time to check and replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
