Elvin McIntosh

Elvin McIntosh: 1932 – 2024

On April 22, Elvin “Bud” McIntosh went to heaven, passing peacefully in his sleep at home.

Bud was born on February 16,1932 in Salt Creek, Wyoming to Bertha and Orville McIntosh. Bud attended school in Mills and Casper and graduated from NCHS in 1950. After graduation, Bud worked several jobs around the state. In 1952, Bud enlisted in the Army to serve his country. He served in Korea as a weapons instructor, and numerous airborne divisions, including the 101st Airborne, finishing his tour in Japan in 1957.

Returning to Casper, he met Sheila Burgess, the love of his life. They were married in 1958 and enjoyed 66 years of happiness and laughter. In 1958, he also started his career with Standard Oil Company, later known as Amoco. After 30 plus years of faithful service, he retired from the Company.

Following his retirement, Bud stayed active with his many hobbies. His grandchildren were certainly the main focus of his time. He loved helping all of them with any projects, primarily 4-H and FFA livestock, as well as attending all their sports events. He was active in the Antique Club, always anxious to share stories about the old treasures he had gathered and collected.

Bud had a great love for Wyoming and its history. His library contained many books on the subject, and he loved debating with anyone that shared his interest. He was also a Mills volunteer fireman for several years and really enjoyed it.

He was always willing to share his shop and time to help his friends with any problems they might have. In later years, he enjoyed pasturing and helping care for the horses of college rodeo students.

Bud is survived by his wife, Sheila McIntosh; and three children: Alan (Pam) McIntosh, Dennis (Pat) McIntosh, and Vicki Steinle (Steve). He is also survived by five sisters: Jean Perry, Norma Pigg, Donna Gladson (Jerry), Blackie Nelson (Mel), and Judy Hageman; his grandchildren: Travis (Mandy) McIntosh, Butch (Audrey) Steinle, Kyle McIntosh, Brice (Lisa) McIntosh, and Kari Steinle (Ashton Boyles); and his great-grandchildren: Madison McIntosh, Raiden Steinle, and Memphis McIntosh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Bertha McIntosh; his brothers, Bob (Ellen) McIntosh, and Jimmie McIntosh; and his sister, Butch (George) Rodgers; his brothers-in-law: Pete Perry, Larry Pigg, and Bill Hageman.

He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Giff (Cindy) Burgess, Greg (Beth) Burgess; and his sister-in-law, Edna Burgess. He was also preceded in death by Bob Burgess, Vivian (Ed) Lowndes, and Gary Burgess.

He is also survived and preceded in death by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, his best friend, Kenny Avey, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at Newcomers Funeral Home on Monday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m. Following the services, he will be laid to rest at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. There will be a reception held at the VFW on Bryan Stock Trail.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Jason’s Friends Foundation.

Kathaleen Mickey Sanford: 1950 – 2024

Kathleen Mickey Sanford went to be with our lord and savior on April 19, 2024.

Mickey was born February 7, 1950 in Provo, Utah to Donna Richmond and Willard Von Watts. She moved to Wyoming and it became her home in 1981. Mickey was the matriarch of a very large and loving family, and is now our beautiful angel in heaven watching over the legacy that she and her husband built.

Mickey was preceded in death by her father, Willard Von Watts; her mother, Donna Richmond Watts; her three older brothers: Buddy, Kenneth and Jack; her two big sisters, Ethel Kupfar and Mary Ellen Anderson; a son-in-law, William Lynn Felton; and two grandsons, Andrew Fietkau (Andy Bug), and Spencer Sands (Ginger Snap).

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Earl Alan Sanford of Glenrock; children: Toni (Guy) Few, Troy (Connie) Fietkau, Tod (Valerie) Fietkau, Traci (Robert) Sands, Becky (David) Watts, Angela Challans; her baby sister, Linda Colleen Watts; and her pride and joy, 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Mickey loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was the sales and marketing manager of a major hotel in Laramie, Wyoming, an ambassador of the Laramie Chamber of Commerce and a successful business owner. She had the historic Tumble Inn in Powder River, Wyoming and TK’s Diner in Casper during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. She retired and lived at the rig with her husband Earl, and they were able to travel to Alaska, Spain, Columbia and Mexico, as well as various other places, especially enjoying vacationing on cruises.

Mickey loved snow skiing, water sports, paint and dance. However, her favorite activity was planning and having friends and family to her house on the North Platte River for BBQ’s, poker parties and holidays- especially Easter.

She had many friends that were family. Her “sisters of the heart” and friendships were forever. She made a lasting and wonderful impression and impact on everyone who knew her. Her love for her family truly was unconditional and her family was her “reason”. She will be missed beyond measure and loved to the moon and back.

Mickey’s Funeral will be Friday, April 26 at 12:00 noon at the Christian Church of Casper. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, at 11:00 a.m., with the Committal service to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. There will be a reception following services at the Christian Church of Casper.
