Join us Saturday, June 4 for our Annual Oil City Gumbo Cookoff at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds benefitting the Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care. Gates open at 11:00 a.m., and gumbo tasting will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $10 and include gumbo tasting and live music from Quinlan Valdez, Chad Lore, The Avengers, and The Red Butte Band. There will be a vendor fair, beer tent, and kids’ activity area, and the Wyoming National Guard will be there with a HIMARS rocket truck, Humvee, and LMTV five-ton truck, making this event one the whole family can enjoy.

Participants will be on site at the fairgrounds early Saturday morning prepping their roux and getting ready for competition at 11:00 a.m. There are cash prizes for first-, second-, and third-place seafood gumbo and meat gumbo as well as crowd favorites!

Get in on the competition early and pick your favorite team Friday, June 3!ย Weโ€™re hosting a Calcutta, which is open to the public, at 6:30 p.m. Enter for a chance to win entry to the gumbo cookoff, beverages at the event or a signature gumbo shirt. Raffle tickets will also be available for $20 to enter for a chance to win one of four prizes:

  • Pistol โ€“ 9mm Glock G5 Semi-automatic
  • Crazy Rainbow Fly Fishing/ Ugly Bug Fly Shop two-person guided fishing day trip
  • Crazy Rainbow Fly Fishing/ Ugly Bug Fly Shop two-person guided fishing day tripย 
  • Gumbo Competition Cooking Kit/ Camping Cook Kit โ€“ Dual burner stove, 2-42 qt stainless pots, cooking tools, a gumbo cooking lesson

Tickets can be purchased from Rocky Mountain Discount Sports, Rocky Mountain Oncology or a Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care board member. They will also be available for purchase at both events! The drawing will be held after the winners are announced at the Cookoff.ย 

The Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that offers financial assistance to Wyoming Cancer patients with non-medical needs during treatment.ย
