Thursday has officially been declared “307 First Day,” and what better way to celebrate than shopping locally AND getting free candy?
307 First is partnering with Donells Candies to offer Casper residents the opportunity to do just that on Thursday, March 7.
“Help us celebrate the first official 307 First Day by supporting local Casper businesses,” a post from 307 First reads. “Buy anything over $20 from a locally owned Casper business before or on March 7, 2024, and 307 First will give you a box of chocolates from Donells Candies.”
A wise man once said that “Life is like a box of chocolates,” and maybe that’s true or maybe it isn’t. But a box of chocolates is special enough; especially one from a community pillar like Donells Candies.
“Simply bring your receipt to Donells Candies on 307 First Day on March 7, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to pick up your chocolates,” the post states.
It’s that simple. This is a chance to shop local, to show your support to 307 businesses and to celebrate all that is good about Wyoming by toasting the Cowboy State with a chocolate made of love (and a variety of other delicious ingredients).
At the City Council meeting on Tuesday, 307 First’s Kyle Ridgeway extolled the benefits of shopping locally, stating that “There’s an extra multiplier of economic impact when you work with somebody locally.”
The rest of the city agrees, and Casper Mayor Steve Cathey read a city proclamation, noting that shopping locally impacts job opportunities and allows local businesses to invest in community development. Shopping locally, he said, positively impacts the entire city.
“Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, Stephen Cathey, Mayor of Casper, Wyoming, do hereby proclaim March 7, 2024, as City of Casper 307 First Day, and encourage the people of Casper to keep as much of their hard-earned dollars in the State of Wyoming as possible to further enrich our community, bolster our economic resiliency and spur job creation,” Cathey stated.
“In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and cause the official seal of the City of Casper to be affixed this fifth day of March 2024.”
307 First Day was signed, sealed and delivered, and on Thursday, March 7, simply shopping local will earn Casper residents a box of chocolates from one of Casper’s most well-loved, historical businesses. It’s a chance to invest in Wyoming, to put your money where your heart is, and to put 307…first.
