CASPER, Wyo. — Slim Timmy and Friendz have been voted one of Oil City’s Best Nightlife DJs in this year’s highly anticipated “Best of” contest, marking a significant achievement for the dynamic duo in Casper’s thriving nightlife scene.
Local voters spent weeks casting their ballots, and the results were unveiled at the 5150′ Festival. This recognition highlights Slim Timmy and Friendz’s unique approach to DJ’ing, setting them apart from other performers in the area.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized,” said Seth Hollier, who performs under the name Speckdrum. “For us, DJ’ing is more than just playing music — it’s about creating an unforgettable experience with lights, sound and visuals.”
A Focus on Production Quality
What makes Slim Timmy and Friendz stand out is their commitment to high-quality production. The duo has invested in a 12-foot-by-9-foot indoor LED wall and recently added an 8-foot additional wall that doubles as a DJ booth. Their setup also includes a large array of club lights, including moving heads, par lights, strobes and blinders. This equipment allows them to transform venues that typically function as bars into a full club atmosphere for the night.
“It’s the full package,” Hollier said. “We don’t just focus on one aspect of the night. Our goal is to create something memorable every time we perform. We’re also exclusive — we don’t want to play every weekend because experiences, by their very nature, can’t be regular. We want each event to be special.”
Music That Resonates
Musically, Slim Timmy and Friendz are versatile. They’re known for their EDM sets, particularly focusing on tech house and drum and bass, but they’re also adept at playing more traditional open formats for venues that cater to diverse crowds.
“We take the time to meet with venue owners to understand their goals and the types of music their audiences will enjoy,” said Turner Logan, also known as “Slim Timmy.” “We visit the venues multiple times before playing to get a feel for what works.”
From Local to International Stages
Hollier and Logan both bring extensive experience to their performances. Hollier, who started DJ’ing in 2006, has played at Republic, one of New Orleans’s largest clubs, as well as in cities across Louisiana, Miami, Charleston, Chicago and, most recently, Canada’s Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador provinces.
Logan, meanwhile, has made his mark in Casper and beyond. “Playing in Mexico City last year was a highlight for me,” Logan said. “But we love playing in Casper, too — you might have caught us at Gaslight Social, Backwards Distilling Company, The Bourgeois Pig, Frontier Brewing or even Butch’s, where we’ve done back-to-back nights with DJ Trilly, trading off sets to blend his style with ours.” DJ Trilly is an up-and-coming talent making a name for himself in the open-format world.
Creating Memorable Experiences
One of their most notable performances was Cinco de Mayo 2023 at Gaslight Social, where they designed a 360-degree stage elevated 4 feet off the ground. “It was transformative,” Hollier said, emphasizing their focus on creating unique stage designs for each event.
Slim Timmy and Friendz are also dedicated to the next generation of music lovers. This past year, they worked with Will from Rocky Mountain Sound and Light to DJ Natrona County High School’s prom, exposing the younger generation to their innovative style. “We’re excited about helping shape the future of Casper’s nightlife,” Logan added.
As Slim Timmy and Friendz continue to grow, they’ve started sharing their skills with aspiring DJs and are expanding their reach into larger markets. Their Downtown Alive initiative, which pairs downtown businesses with nightlife experiences once a month, has become a staple in Casper.
Eyes on Future Venues and Collaborations
Looking ahead, Slim Timmy and Friendz have their eyes on several venues in Casper they would love to play. Hogadon Basin is at the top of their list. “If we could work something out with the facility and the city for night skiing, I think it could increase revenue for them and create something unique and memorable for the skiers,” Hollier said.
They’ve also started discussions with a local coffee shop with a loft, which they believe could offer a really unique show. Additionally, they’re interested in working with a local pool hall, though time will tell if these ideas materialize.
Beyond Casper, Slim Timmy and Friendz have a large group of DJ friends in other cities they would love to bring to town. “Some of these DJs have opened for Pitbull, have national radio shows and even weekly shows on SiriusXM,” Logan said. “These guys are personal friends, and we’d love to introduce them to the Casper culture and allow them to bring their style for a night or two to the Casper community.”
