Douglas is ready to kick off the holiday season with an unforgettable weekend of magic, music and merriment at the Mingle and Jingle Community Christmas Party. Mark your calendar for Dec. 6, 7 and 8, because this event promises to be a magical holiday celebration, filled with twinkling lights, heartwarming traditions and festive fun for all ages.
Friday, Dec. 6: The Festivities Begin
Everything begins on Friday evening with the Christmas Parade, a dazzling display free for everyone to join. Watch as floats, lights and community spirit fill the streets, creating a festive scene perfect for families and friends to enjoy together. The parade route is from Converse County Library to Jackalope Square, along Third Street. And the magic doesn’t stop there. Immediately following the parade, gather at Jackalope Square for the Lighting of the Square! Sip on hot cocoa, grab a s’more, sing along with Christmas carolers and experience the twinkling transformation of Jackalope Square as it lights up the night. And, of course, Santa himself will be there to greet kids and spread his holiday cheer.
Dec. 7 and 8: Experience Christmas at the Depot
On Saturday and Sunday, the Douglas Railroad Museum invites you to a truly enchanting event: Christmas at the Depot. This year, we’re bringing the magic of the season to life as the museum’s historic passenger car transforms into the Polar Express! Visitors of all ages will feel the holiday spirit as the conductor calls “All aboard!” for a special reading of The Polar Express. After the story, guests will enjoy cookies and hot chocolate, and don’t forget — Santa will be waiting to pose for photos!
Admission is free, but seating is limited, so be sure to reserve your Golden Ticket starting Nov. 23 at the Douglas Railroad Museum. With your ticket in hand, step inside this beautifully restored car and experience the enchantment of the season.
