The Charles E. Piersall Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America is excited to announce that we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of our chapter on June 7, 2025, at the IWLA Lodge located on the grounds of Fort Caspar Campground at 4205 Fort Caspar Road, Casper, WY 82601.
We invite you and your families to join us from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate this achievement and enjoy the silent auction, BBQ (food and drinks will be provided), socializing, lodge tours and memories of the last 100 years.
Many of you are or have been members or have attended our annual Christmas party. We encourage you to take part and share your memories of our chapter. If you are not aware of the Izaak Walton League, we ask that you stop by, introduce yourselves and get to know who we are and what we do in the community.
Over the past 100 years, the Izaak Walton League of America has been an extraordinary champion and defender of the nation’s soil, air, woods, waters and wildlife. Through member-driven bottom-up governance, we are protecting outdoor America in communities across the country while working strategically at the national level to win critical conservation battles.
The Charles E. Piersall Chapter is located on the banks of the North Platte River in Casper, Wyoming. Founded in 1925, the Chapter acquired private properties, built a log lodge, established the Fort Casper Campground and RV Park and the Bruce K. Ward Wildlife Park. In 2021, the City of Casper purchased the 30 acres of riparian habitat and all buildings and the RV park, placed all properties in Conservation Easements and leased to the Charles E. Piersall Chapter the operation, management and care for the properties.
Chapter conservation activities include highway cleanup and sponsoring a scholarship for Casper College students pursuing environmental science degrees. The grounds have fishing access along the river, an archery range open to the public and a dynamic biweekly hiking group along many trails in the Casper and Natrona County area. Since most of our members enjoy the outdoors, we also schedule camping weekends. Future plans include starting a youth program. There is significant open space on the property that is readily accessible if you just need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Geocaching is on the property. The Lodge and lodge grounds are available to rent for events to individuals, groups and organizations. For more than a century, the Izaak Walton League of America has worked to safeguard our outdoor heritage, including our public lands and parks. Across the country, water pollution, habitat loss and climate change continue to threaten the natural resources that sustain us. But we are not bystanders. For over a hundred years, the League’s members have been advocates, stewards and protectors of the great outdoors.
Our goal is clear: secure long-term conservation success through decisive policy action, ensuring that future generations inherit a thriving natural world.
