CASPER, Wyo. — Banner Wyoming Medical Center has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s “100 Great Community Hospitals” list for 2025, recognizing its commitment to clinical excellence and vital health care services for Wyoming residents.

The 249-bed community hospital, which became part of Banner Health in 2020, serves approximately 250,000 people across a 150-mile radius from its strategic location in the geographic center of Wyoming. As the largest hospital in the state, Banner Wyoming Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing accessible health care in a rural region where weather-related transportation challenges are common and specialized medical services are limited in surrounding communities.

“This recognition from Becker’s Hospital Review reflects our team’s dedication to providing exceptional care to Wyoming residents,” said Lance Porter, Banner Wyoming Medical Center’s CEO. “We’re proud to serve as a health care anchor for our communities, ensuring patients can receive high-quality care without leaving the state.”

Since joining Banner Health, the medical center has achieved several significant milestones, including:

  • Earning American College of Surgeons Level 2 Trauma Center status
  • Expanding telestroke access to nine sites across Wyoming
  • Maintaining the American Heart and Stroke Associations “Gold Plus Stroke Award”
  • Retaining Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center status

Banner Health has demonstrated its commitment to the region by investing $70 million in capital improvements at the facility. These investments include a comprehensive maintenance and upgrade plan and a new electrophysiology lab that opened last month.

Additionally, the hospital and associated Banner Health clinics have successfully recruited dozens of primary care providers and high-level specialists, significantly enhancing the availability of specialized care for Wyoming residents.

Becker’s Hospital Review’s annual list recognizes community hospitals for their dedication to clinical excellence, academic advancement, and personalized, whole-person care delivery.
