Casper, Wyo. — Central Wyoming Counseling Center (CWCC) is growing its impact across Wyoming and beyond, with two exciting expansion projects now underway. These initiatives reflect CWCC’s continued commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care and its reputation as a trusted leader in behavioral health and crisis response services.
New Behavioral Health and Crisis Stabilization Center in Kimball, Nebraska
CWCC has been invited by the State of Nebraska and Region 1 Behavioral Health Authority to serve as partners in a new behavioral health and crisis stabilization center in Kimball, Nebraska. The project, funded through State of Nebraska Opioid Treatment Infrastructure Cash Funds, will remodel the former Kimball Health Services hospital into a modern, recovery-focused treatment center.
The Kimball facility will provide a safe, secure, short-term treatment environment for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. Services will include crisis assessment and intervention, medication management, and connection to ongoing care focused on stabilizing acute symptoms and support individuals in returning safely to their daily lives.
CWCC is currently in the early phases of this project, having secured funding for the facility renovation and preparing to pursue funding for clinical operations. While CWCC’s current team will guide development and implementation, the center will ultimately be staffed locally in Nebraska, with CWCC providing ongoing oversight and support to ensure clinical excellence and continuity of care.“We’re honored to be chosen as a trusted partner in expanding access to behavioral health services in the Panhandle region,” said Jim Cowser, CEO of CWCC. “This opportunity allows us to extend the high standard of care that CWCC is known for — grounded in compassion, professionalism, and hope — to more communities that need it.”
Merger with Fremont Counseling Service
Closer to home, CWCC is also in the due-diligence phase of merging with Fremont Counseling Service (FCS), with locations in Riverton and Lander, Wyoming. This merger will unify the operations, staff, and boards of both organizations, creating a stronger and more connected behavioral health network across central and western Wyoming.
By merging with Fremont Counseling Service, residents of both counties will have access to shared behavioral health resources with a commitment to local emphasis and continuity. Clients in Fremont County who require residential treatment will also benefit from a direct pathway to CWCC’s comprehensive treatment programs in Casper.
