CASPER, Wyo. — The search for missing Washakie County woman Breanna Mitchell is ongoing, though the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that the FBI and K-9 units have provided information that could help narrow the search.

The FBI was able to approximate the last location Mitchell’s cellphone had service before the signal was lost. Though it’s possible that Mitchell continued moving after her cellphone died, the information still provides useful information by indicating where her phone was last in communication with a cell tower before losing power.

The sheriff’s office added that the data doesn’t provide a pinpoint location but a fairly large approximate area.

Washakie County Sheriff Austin Brookwell said K-9 units also found potential leads, and search and rescue crews are currently investigating the area. He declined to comment on where the leads were discovered to keep people from flooding the area and potentially jeopardizing any tracks or clues.

Mitchell was last seen July 22 after her vehicle was reported stuck on Nowater Trail. The vehicle was later found abandoned over 5 miles down the rugged two-track road that winds through the badlands.
