Oil City News, The Natrona County Public Library, and The Table will present Casper’s first Ignite event at the Adbay Theatre* (627 West Yellowstone), May 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

“Ignite” is a series of speedy presentations. Presenters will speak to twenty slides, which advance automatically every 15 seconds. The result is fast and fun storytelling that lasts just five minutes per speaker. Event organizers say that the goal is to enlighten, but to do so quickly.

As a sponsor for the event, Oil City will be running profiles on some of the speakers that audiences will have the opportunity to see at the event.

IGNITE Speech topic: Swallowed by the Shadow

Were you familiar with IGNITE before being approached for the Casper event?
No

Why did you want to participate in the event?
For the past 12 months giving speeches and presentations has been a very big part of my role and they’ve become fairly second nature or routine.  The idea behind Ignite, 5 min…20 slides, it’s exciting and challenging!  And I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get a little bit outside of my comfort zone.

What do you feel is added by having a time component to the talks?
Anxiety!  Ha!  But seriously, a time limit really challenges you to pull out or find the most meaningful points and be concise about your message.

What most would you like attendees to take away from your session?
Perspective.  It’s easy to forget sometimes that perspective can make all the difference in the world.

*Note: Due to an unavoidable scheduling conflict, the IGNITE venue has been changed from the Pathways Innovation Center to the Adbay theatre, located in the Old Yellowstone District at 627 West Yellowstone.
