CASPER, Wyo. —  The University of Wyoming’s Acting President, Neil Theobald, offered a digital “welcome back” message, as classes for the spring semester kicked off strictly with a distance component.

The University of Wyoming announced earlier this month that undergraduate and graduate courses will be delivered online for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester, to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the campus community.

Theobald thanked the faculty and staff of the university for their commitment to students, as well as the swift changes that have been made to class operations.

“You have shown that the Cowboy family will work together to overcome any challenge,” Theobald said in the video message, sent out during the evening hours, Sunday, March 29. “I couldn’t be prouder of this community.”

Theobald went on to tell students that their feelings of sadness and anxiousness  were normal.

“None of us was expecting a spring like this,” he said. “My hope is that you stay courageous and optimistic as we chart this new course together.”

The acting president closed the short video with a wish of better days ahead and an encouraging message of “keep moving forward pokes.”
