CASPER, Wyo. — The Natrona County Fire District announced on Monday that two of their firefighters were sent to Tennessee over the weekend to help fight a wildfire burning within the Cherokee National Forest along Interstate 40.

“Firefighter Derek Higgins is working as a task force trainee under Fire Engineer Darin Pepple, a qualified task force,” NCFD said. “We wish these gentlemen the best of luck and a safe fire assignment.”

The “Mill Creek Fire” started on Thursday, April 22 on private property and has burned an estimated 262 acres and is 25% contained. More information about the fire is available from InciWeb.
