CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Honor Farm, a minimum custody facility housing 285 inmates, has a new warden.

Michael Harlow has been promoted to warden from his previous position as deputy warden at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins.

The Wyoming Department of Corrections said in their Friday release that Harlow had been with the state penitentiary for the last two and a half years.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve as the Warden of the Wyoming Honor Farm and look forward to joining their team,” Harlow said. “My time at WSP has been a learning experience.”

“The staff there are an exceptional group of people in many ways and I will greatly miss them working with them.”

Harlow had 31 years of experience in corrections before joining the Wyoming Department of Corrections.

Wyoming Department of Corrections Director Robert Lampert says Harlow will be a good fit at the Wyoming Honor Farm where in addition to traditional programming and educational opportunities, inmates tend to over 500 acres of alfalfa, corn, oats and other crops.

“Michael is looking forward to his new assignment and will be an excellent fit with WHF’s agricultural work focus,” said Lampert. “He has extensive knowledge in both ranching and agriculture, having run a cattle operation in Wyoming just prior to his employment with the WDOC.”

Harlow will officially step into the new role Nov. 1.
